Meditations II.

A life examined. An evolving book drawn from my journals: what I have lived, what I am learning, and the person I am working to become.

In honor of Marcus Aurelius and the practice of examining one’s life.

The journals behind the book

The record comes first.

Meditations II brings these three journals into one growing body of work. Each keeps its own identity. The book will take shape through original pages and the reflections that follow.

The practice behind the pages

Written then.
Understood now.

The book will preserve the distance between an original thought and a later understanding.

I

Preserve the page.

Keep the handwriting, revisions, and original words together. Record the journal, date, and page whenever they are known.

II

Return with reflection.

Give today’s understanding its own space beside the original. Let growth remain visible in the record.

III

Shape the book.

Gather selected passages into a manuscript with clear themes, source references, and room for continued learning.

A first look at the source material

In my own hand.

These two original photographs were shared with Lead With Our Imagination. They offer a first look at the handwritten record as the wider journal collection takes shape.

The photographs are unchanged. Their writing dates and journal titles were not supplied. The completed book and its full collection of passages are still in development.
